Wesley Tarpley
Contemplative spiritual guide, poet, and storyteller—and the author of Open to Mystery.
Wesley lives in Richmond, Texas. He is a husband, father, grandfather, and poet whose Christian faith strongly shapes his life and writing.
Known as “Adda,” Wesley describes himself as “a son of grace in the love of Abba.” His work invites readers into a warmer, quieter way of paying attention—to God, to one another, and to the sacred within everyday life.
The story behind the book
Finding the sacred in ordinary life
Wesley wrote Open to Mystery to share his journey of experiencing God’s love through ordinary and ancient practices—especially bread, wine, poetry, community, and contemplation.
In a culture crowded with noise, certainty, and the pressure to be right, his writing offers a different invitation: slow down, listen with openness, and remain attentive to mystery. Through reflection and poetry, Wesley encourages readers to recognize how the sacred can meet us at the table, in conversation, and in the rhythms of daily life.
His voice is personal rather than academic, welcoming readers as fellow travelers who can ask honest questions and discover what becomes visible when we make room for wonder.
